2025 Summer Figure Drawing Marathon (May 30 - June 1)

$408.00

May 30 - June 1, 9 AM-6 PM

The Drawing Marathon was founded by artist Graham Nickson in 1988 as part of the curriculum for the New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture. Many have benefited from the profound richness of intensive drawing practice. At JPA, we want to generate a similar impact by hosting a mini drawing marathon, in which students will be working rigorously for 3 consecutive days from 9am to 6pm, both from a life model and from other sources. Through the process of looking and responding to the environment, students gain the ability to employ visual metaphors that contain mystery, poetry, and meaning that is unique to the artist’s vision and worldview. Critiques are an integral part of this experience and serve to inform the artist of the interpretative and analytical nature of art appreciation. This 3-day experience shall yield a deeper understanding of image construction and pictorial language that lives beyond the duration of the workshop.

Payment method: Venmo @JPA_STL or make check payable to Janes and Pang Atelier
