Summer Intensive Cohort
July 8 - Aug 2, 2023
Wednesdays & Saturdays
Our Summer Intensive Cohort began with a goal setting orientation, in which students reflected upon their intentions and expectations for the month. Some of the goals are: Sharpening eyes to understand what a good composition looks like, working with more unnameable colors in a painting, better understanding of spatial relationship, better command paint and different colors, to enjoy drawing and painting without overthinking or worrying, gain more confidence of ideas and to feel more comfortable taking risks, etc.
These objectives were interwoven into the way we designed projects and the curriculum for the next four weeks of our time together.
Students met with us twice a week to explore subjects and topics pertaining to plasticity, composition, visual poetry, color resonance, and art historical references that demonstrate strength in students’ focus of interests. We also worked with a figure model once a week to incorporate and further engage with ideas from the previous class. This cohort fellowship provided us a time to learn from one another, and to witness a rapid growth that resulted from students’ dedication both during and outside of meeting hours, accompanied by individually tailored advice and feedback.
